U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Julian Castro, visited Nashville to talk about the city’s digital divide.

Castro joined Mayor Megan Barry along with other school leaders for a roundtable discussion at Stratford STEM Magnet School.

They talked about the Connect Home initiative and internet connectivity in education.

Connect Home works local non-profits and internet service providers to give residents of public housing internet access -- to help bridge what's called the digital divide.

“Connect Home Fundamentally is about giving our young people the tools they need in this 21st century in terms of technology and access to information to succeed,” said Castro.

Students all across the country were able to take part in the discussion thanks to Google Hangout.
