CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A car crashed into an apartment building in Clarksville in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
According to Clarksville police, officers responded to a vehicle crash on the 2000 block of Tiny Town Road. When they arrived, they found a 2013 Hyundai Sonata crashed into the building.
The Sonata had left the road, traveled down an embankment, launched into the air and crashed into the bedroom of an apartment, several feet off of the ground.
A resident of the apartment was in bed when the crash happened, trapping them under the vehicle. They were taken to a Nashville hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The driver, 18-year-old Rahul Malakar of Fort Campbell, was charged with DUI, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment.
The apartment building has been structurally condemned. Because of this, 12 adults and four children have been displaced. The Red Cross is helping to provide accommodations for all of them,
