Lawmakers paid tribute to former Nashville Vice Mayor Jay West after his death at age 65.
West died unexpectedly Wednesday after being hospitalized at Tristar Centennial Medical Center.
He was elected vice mayor in 1995. West was also a past Metro councilman and prominent lobbyist at the Tennessee General Assembly.
Lawmakers in one committee held a moment of silence when they received the news on Wednesday.
