Local Vietnam veterans were honored in Nashville at a ceremony hosted by the Veterans Benefit Administration Nashville.

The Vets were thanked for their service, and presented with a special lapel pin to commemorate the anniversary.

According to the VA and the US Census Bureaus, there are 7.2 million Vietnam veterans equal about 1 in every 44 Americans,” said Edna Macdonald, Director of VBA Nashville Office. “If you consider just age 65 years or older, that number becomes 1 in every 8 Americans. And if you consider just men of that age, it's 1 in every 3.”

Country music star Irlene Mandrell also showed up to the event to perform her new single The Cloth to honor the veterans' lives and sacrifices.
