NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It was a simple act of kindness for the families of those who have given their lives fighting for our country.
Saturday a group of volunteers went to local stores to buy gifts for more than 160 children who've lost a military parent.
It was part of an annual event held by "A Soldier's Child Foundation" and Covenant Heating and Cooling.
The gifts were wrapped in purple paper -- similar to the coveted Purple Heart medallion -- and shipped to the foundation's kids with November birthdays.
“We just want these families to know that when their mom or dad made the sacrifice that they've made that, it’s not done in vain and there is honor in serving our country,” said Jonathan Bibb, of Covenant Heating and Cooling.
ASC has served over 2,200 children across the country. To learn more about the foundation, click here.
