There were plenty of cheers and a lot of joy in Springfield as dozens of volunteers delivered meals to the community.

Volunteers with the Springfield Baptist Church cooked 500 Thanksgiving meals and delivered them to the elderly, disabled, and sit-ins in the county.

The kind actions have not only become a tradition, but a family affair.

“It's a blessing to get to talk to them and visit with them even if it's once a year,” said Aaron Harris.

“And they remember us every year,” said Aaron’s wife, Karen. “Every year we walk in and they know we're coming in and get excited and talk about how much the kids have grown.”

The church has been delivering food for more than 30 years.
