Walk Bike Nashville, the organization which advocates for safer streets, infrastructure and transportation in Nashville, celebrated its 20th year of existence.

Past and current members of Walk Bike Nashville gathered downtown Friday evening in celebration.

Mayor David Briley read a proclamation which recognized July 20, 2018 as "Walk Bike Nashville Day."

This comes after Metro Council voted for the proclamation resolution during the latest council meeting.

Executive Director Nora Kern said she was happy the organization was recognized this week.

"It's all about safety and it's all about quality of life and making sure people have options for how to get around. So we advocate for safer streets, better infrastructure and better transportation choices," Kern said.

The resolution recognized the organization's contributions to the health and well-being of the citizens of Nashville.
