NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — WeGo Public Transit is holding an open public comment period regarding the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee’s (RTA) facility rental fees and active-duty military ride free program.

WeGo will present a final report to the RTA Board of Directors using the public feedback gathered. If approved by the board, the changes would go into effect this fall.

From July 22 to August 20, WeGo Public Transit is having an open public comment period regarding the two programs. Using the feedback from the public, RTA will present a final report to the Board of Directors.

The current rental fee for the Riverfront Station, located at 1st Avenue, ranges from $1,000 to $1,500 per day. WeGo officials say the rate is well below market and does not reflect the costs associated with the impact on operations or customers.

Therefore, WeGo is proposing the rate is changed to $5,000 per day when the event does not impact operations (i.e., days on which we do not operate rail service), and $10,000 per day when it does.

The second topic for comment is the Active Duty Military Ride Free Program.

RTA currently offers free rides to military veterans on regional bus and train service and reduced fares for active-duty military personnel. However, WeGo is proposing a change in the program which would allow both veterans and active-duty military personnel to ride for free on regional bus and train service with proper identification.
