FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A West Virginia woman was arrested after stealing a car in Franklin Monday, Franklin police said.
Franklin police were called to the Walmart on Mallory Lane around 7 a.m. Monday after a car was stolen in the parking lot.
Officers worked with store security and reviewed surveillance video. They determined the suspect stole the car after finding a spare key in the unlocked car. The suspect loaded items that were stolen from Walmart into the car before she drove away.
Officers then found the suspect - 32-year-old Kristen Kelley of West Virginia - trying to remove the license plate from the car at a nearby Culver's restaurant.
Kelley is jailed on a $110,000 bond. She is charged with auto theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
