Man charged in crash that injured Williamson County deputy

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man has been charged in connection with an early-morning crash that injured a Williamson County deputy.

The incident happened in the southbound lanes of I-65 near Cool Springs Boulevard at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Deputy Seth Obermeyer, age 29, was inside his vehicle in a construction zone when his Dodge Durango was hit by another driver.

According to THP, 28-year-old Nathaniel Chapuis is charged with aggravated vehicular assault, driving on a revoked license 2nd offense and an open container violation. He was also not wearing his seat belt.

Both were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Deputy Obermeyer was listed as being in stable condition.

Southbound lanes were closed for some time but reopened around 5 a.m.
