The Williamson County SWAT Team tested a product called CrimSafe in front of lawmakers and school and airport officials to demonstrate how it can keep people safe.
"Crimsafe is a material and product that's made in Alabama, originally from Australia and it was originally designed as a hurricane screen" said creator and owner Wayne Gregory.
The impenetrable mesh is used to make screen doors that are used in a variety of ways. "It will keep out criminals. It'll keep kids in or out depending on where you want them. It will protect the house against storm damage, and on top of everything else it keeps bugs out,"said Gregory.
Several law enforcement agencies from different counties attended Wednesday's demonstration. There were also representatives from Metro Public Schools, Nashville International Airport, Belle Meade, Williamson County Schools and several architects.
The product's creator said these storm doors can give the public and police valuable time when crimes are being committed.
"We use this for homes, for businesses, for schools, for government buildings anywhere that security is needed necessary, we use this product" said Gregory.
Some of the agencies in attendance have already considered using the product.
