FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — Williamson Medical Center will soon provide the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to its first employee this week.
The hospital is among the first in the state to receive vaccine doses.
WMC will receive an initial batch of 975 vaccine doses, which will be given to emergency medical service personnel and inpatient hospital team members who have direct exposure to COVID-19 patients.
Eligible staff members can sign up to be vaccinated at no cost. WMC is not requiring staff take the vaccine, but hospital leaders are encouraging it.
The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses so those receiving the vaccine this week will be among the group to receive a dose when the state gets another batch of doses in three weeks.
