COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — A person was charged after human remains were found on Cole Ridge Road in Coffee County.
61-year-old Connie Ray was charged with accessory after the factor, abuse of corpse, tampering with evidence and false reporting.
The remains were found Tuesday, but the identity of the person was not known.
According to court documents, Ray reported the victim as a missing person on June 2nd.
During the missing person investigation, Ray is alleged to have known the victim wasn't missing, but had instead died from a drug overdose.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is working with the district attorney and Coffee County Sheriff's Dept.
Ray was booked into Coffee Co. jail and is being held on a $600,000 bond.
