CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Deputies at the Montgomery County courthouse arrested a woman Wednesday for carrying a loaded gun inside.
Elizabeth Rita Walthour was arrested around 10:30a.m. Deputies, who checked her purse through an x-ray machine as she entered the building, spotted a gun inside the bag.
The deputies searched the purse and found a loaded revolver with 3 rounds inside.
The immediately detained Walthour for questioning, where she was then charged with carrying a weapon during judicial proceedings. Her bond was set at $25,000.
“The Court Security Deputies scan thousands of pieces of personal property,” said Sheriff Fuson. “This just highlights the importance of the job we have to do in order to keep our courthouse secure and the people inside safe.”
Walthour did not have a conceal carry permit.
Walthour was at the courthouse for an arraignment hearing for a failure to appear in court for a traffic citation.
