Rebecca McCarver's passion is caring for the dogs in her north Nasvhille neighborhood. Around that area she's known as the "dog lady."

"This one is Abby, she's a stray. We found her on Clarksville Highway," McCarver explained.

She's worked tirelessly to find homes for any foster dogs that have come through her doors, but now she and her brother Charles Havis are the ones in need of a home.

"We at the point where we don't have any other alternative," Havis said.

On August, 30 their landlord gave them a 30 day notice to move out. The property is now under contract and as of September 30, they're told it will be demolished to make room for a new build.

"Do you guys feel like you're being pushed out a little bit? Well, yes we do," Havis replied.

Their daily search to find a new place to live with their dogs has not gone well.

"We can't hardly find anything for rent, at all you know," McCarver said. "It's not just me or them (dogs), it's all of us, all of us together because we're a family."

Tennessee's Federal Housing Choice Voucher Program helps low income, disabled and elderly residents find affordable and safe places to live. Unfortunately, vouchers that have been issued and not yet leased are being recalled due to a government shortfall.

Its another closed door for Rebecca and her brother. "That's why we are in desperation like this," said Havis.

Rebecca and Charles want to begin looking for a home to buy, they just need a place to stay in the meantime. Folks who know them are stepping up to help as well, a YouCaring account has been set up.
