NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A 22-year-old woman surrendered to police after admitting she was driving a Jeep that hit and killed a man trying to cross the street on Sunday night.
Metro Nashville police said 61-year-old Edward Kendell, who is wheelchair bound, was crossing Dickerson Pike near Duke Street outside a crosswalk when he was hit by a Jeep Latitude around 9:30 p.m.
The Jeep was later left in a parking lot a short distance away from the crash.
Metro police said hours later, Kelly Obrien, of Decatur, Illinois, surrendered and told officers she was the driver of the Jeep.
Obrien was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and failure to render aid. After being arrested, she was released from jail on a $4,000 bond.
