A woman and two children fled the scene of a crash after their car flipped while traveling more than 100 mph through a busy Nashville intersection, police said.

Metro Nashville police officers said they first tried to stop the car earlier in the night in Madison. They did not pursue but the driver did flee the traffic stop.

Around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, the vehicle was clocked going 102 mph through the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard at Lebanon Pike in Hermitage.

The car flipped on Old Hickory Boulevard.

Police said a woman and two children ran from the crash scene and tried to hide from officers behind a nearby Chili's restaurant.

Investigators later caught up with them.

It’s unclear if the woman was driving or if there was another person in the vehicle who was driving and fled the scene.

No major injuries were reported. However, the woman and children were taken to an area hospital.
