Woman killed in fatal crash in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — A fatal crash in Murfreesboro Friday night caused the death of one while injuring another.

According to Murfreesboro Police Department, their Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) responded to the crash near the 1200 block of Northwest Broad Street around 10 p.m.

Two pedestrians were struck by a 2003 Saturn SI3 that was traveling in the right lane. Both pedestrians were transported to St. Thomas Rutherford County.

Julie Wilkerson of Smyrna was later pronounced deceased. Jimmy Layhew, Jr. of Nashville was flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt, where he is now in stable condition.

Steven Gavel, the driver of the Saturn, was not injured.

FACT is continuing to investigate. If further details are released, this story will be updated.
