MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — A woman is dead and a man in custody after a hit-and-run Friday night.
Officials say a man driving a 2012 Nissan Maxima hit 73-year-old Elizabeth Jernigan, of Murfreesboro, while she was crossing Memorial Boulevard near Tire World around 9:15 p.m.
According to police, the man, 27, continued driving. Officers found him at Old Ford Parkway and Thompson Lane shortly after.
Jernigan was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
