NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro police have withdrawn warrants against a man who was implicated in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend.

Police said homicide detectives interviewed Saamia Boyce Jr. on Tuesday night and decided to withdraw the warrants to investigate his claim that he was misidentified by a witness.

The shooting happened at about 11:45 p.m. Monday at the Terrace Park Townhomes off of Elm Hill Pike.

Metro police said 29-year-old Alexis Douglas and her boyfriend were shot inside her apartment. Douglas died at the scene. Fernandez sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said two children, ages 6 and 5, were also in the apartment but did not see the shooting. Both are now with family.

The investigation remains ongoing.
