A woman riding across the country on an electric bike made a stop in Middle Tennessee.
Lindsay Monroe, age 35, rested in Franklin this weekend before continuing on her 1,700-mile electric bike ride to Richmond, Virginia.
This ride came on the heels of her 3,200-mile walk across the U.S.
She said one reason for her riding --- she was tired of a work-home-work routine.
Monroe left her 60-hour work week as a bartender and professional photographer to walk across America.
Last November through September 2017, she walked 3,200 miles crossing 13 states from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Lincoln City, Oregon.
Monroe has been accompanied by her dog, Thina, a former stray that joined her in Arkansas.
She said she has relied on the kindness of strangers for odd jobs, food, and lodging.
She has worked in a vineyard, on a farm, at restaurants and bars, and more.
While riding through different states, Monroe said she has found support from people who can barely afford their own keep.
"I've stayed with people of different income levels, religion, race, political opinion, and [we're] best of friends. People of all different types. We're all Americans, and it's just that -- there's love and respect and trust. And as long as we have that for each other, we'll be alright," she said.
Along the way, Lindsay has found new inspiration for her life and has been an inspiration to others as well.
She will arrive in Richmond on November 13. She has also been tracking her journey on Facebook. You can follow that by clicking here.
