NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A fire in Davidson County destroyed one unit of a duplex.
The fire started Wednesday in a bedroom of the duplex on Revels Drive.
A woman who lived in the unit made it out safely, but authorities said she had a cat which was unaccounted for.
The man living in the other unit, identified as Melvin Terrell, said his home was mostly intact.
“My neighbor was banging on the door and saying, 'Melvin,' and I was asleep,” Terrell said. “I didn’t smell no smoke or nothing, and then I saw the smoke come out from next door. Then I came on out, and I’m here.”
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was unknown. Officials said the fire marshal has been called in to investigate.
