NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Tennessee woman suing Vanderbilt University Medical Center has died unexpectedly.
Carla Miller died last Wednesday. A lawsuit filed earlier this year claimed a doctor at the hospital operated on the wrong kidney.
The lawsuit claims that back in 2017,doctors were supposed to surgically implant a stent in her left kidney but mistakenly put it in her right kidney. Miller claimed it damaged her urinary system and she required dialysis.
It is not clear if her death was caused by the surgery. A family member has said they plan to talk with a lawyer this week about how to proceed.
A fundraiser has been started to help her family.
