Wrong-Way Driver Charged With DUI In Head-On Crash

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – An alleged wrong-way driver has been charged with driving under the influence after a head-on crash in Franklin.

The wreck happened shortly before midnight Thursday, on Mack Hatcher Parkway near Liberty Pike.

Officials with Franklin police said 45-year-old Anita Howard, of Nashville, was driving on the wrong side of the divided highway when her vehicle struck another head-on.

The impact of the crash disabled both vehicles, but no one was injured.

Officers on the scene said Howard was intoxicated and took her into custody.

She was charged with DUI and driving on the wrong side of the roadway. Howard was freed on a $2,000 bond.
