In celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Day a new initiative called "You Be The 1" kicked off in Nashville.
The You Be The 1 initiative encourages teens to stand up against and notice "unseen" troubles like eating disorders, abuse, or cyber bullying - all of which are common among teens in school.
A large part of the program teaches kids how to give support to their friends who may be struggling or to recognize the problems for themselves.
Mayor Megan Barry, the Mayor's Youth Council, parents and non profits met today to collaborate on ways to take action.
"if kids want to be able to be better friends with each other they have to learn to listen. And that's one of the, not resources, but methods that would be best suited for random acts of kindness, taking 5-10 minutes out of the day and listening to someone."
