Although the holidays may seem far away, there are actually only 24 weeks until Christmas! That means it’s the perfect time to start (or finish!) your shopping. And if you have a teen who needs some seasonal work, it’s also a good time for them to start looking for a job.

Some stores are already starting the holiday hiring process, including JCPenney and Kohl’s. While some of the jobs they’re currently looking to fill are for the back-to-school season, others are for the holidays.

JCPenney’s Twitter account says they plan on hiring 18,000 seasonal associates for the back-to-school season, including cashier, replenishment specialist, SEPHORA inside JCPenney beauty consultant and more. To see all of the seasonal jobs they’re offering, just visit their website.

Kohl’s is also looking for seasonal workers for back-to-school, fall and the holiday seasons at more than 300 stores. They’ll have additional hiring beginning in August and continuing on through the holidays. Kohl’s offers a 15 percent employee discount at their stores, which can be stacked with other Kohl’s coupons. You’ll also get special shopping days just for employees, where you’ll find even more savings. Current job openings include customer service, sales associate, stockroom associate and more. To see all the seasonal job postings for Kohl’s, just visit their website.

Both JCPenney and Kohl’s say seasonal jobs may turn into permanent part- or full-time positions.

If your teen isn’t interested in finding work just yet or would prefer to work at a different retailer, most will also be hiring for the holidays fairly soon. Best Buy has some seasonal jobs already listed, as does Target.

Last year, even Amazon was hiring! Their jobs included work-from-home associates to staff their virtual call centers. While that job might not be the best for a teen new to the workforce, it’s worth noting, as it doesn’t even involve leaving the house!
