Freshman Vanderbilt pitcher Donny Everett will be laid to rest in his hometown of Clarksville.
The 19-year-old passed away Thursday in Manchester.
The Coffee County Sheriff's Department said in a statement Friday Everett was with two teammates and two other people when he tried to swim across Normandy Lake near a bridge. Divers found Everett 15 feet from the shore.
Everett was named a Perfect Game All-American in 2015. He was also the 2015 Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year and District Pitcher of the Year.
According to reports, Everett also became the first recipient of the Mr. Baseball Award, given by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association in 2015.
Everett’s funeral has been planned for Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Faith Outreach Church in Clarksville. His burial will follow at Sango Cemetery.
Those with the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home said visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church.
His teammates from the Vanderbilt baseball team will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, those with the funeral home said memorial contributions can be made in Everett's honor to any branch of U.S. Bank or to any charity of choice.
