The decision for Vanderbilt to play in the NCAA Regionals as scheduled was made after the tragic death of one of their players.
Those with the baseball team made the decision early Friday afternoon after there had been thoughts to postpone Friday night's game. However, after deciding to play, the game was postponed late Friday night due to weather.

Vanderbilt has been set to take on Xavier as they begin play in the NCAA Regionals.
First pitch was scheduled for just after 7 p.m., but it was postponed due to weather conditions. Those with the team announced the game had been rescheduled for noon Saturday.
Certainly the Commodores will have heavy hearts as they take the field against the Musketeers, a team they played earlier this season, sweeping all three games.
Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin said he’s happy to play this round of the NCAA Tournament in the friendly confines of Hawkins Field.
The crowd will be sullen in light of the tragic death of Donny Everett.
Earlier Friday, the entire team visited Everett's family in Clarksville. They have planned to honor his memory before the game.
In fact, they had planned to hold a moment of silence in Everett's memory before every NCAA regional game played Friday night.
