ATLANTA (WTVF) — Jason McCourty’s no stranger to Super Bowl week. But this time he’s the star.

McCourty has attended four Super Bowls to support his twin brother Devin, watching him win two rings with the Patriots.

But after signing with New England this offseason - Jason finally has a chance to suit up Sunday against the Rams in Super Bowl 53.

“Leading up to the game I’ll be nervous as all get out, but once we start playing, you’re just playing,” McCourty said. “My wife told me to savor and enjoy all these moments and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Jason McCourty spent the first eight years of his career playing cornerback for the Titans and never reached the playoffs. He went winless last year in Cleveland before signing on with the Patriots’ dynasty.

“It’s surreal I’ll say,” McCourty said. “Just the opening game against Houston we won. The last time I played in a game and won was in 2016 in Tennessee, so just to win 11 games this season (when) the most I won in Tennessee was nine, every experience this year has been memorable for me.”

For past Patriots’ Super Bowls Jason would superstitiously leave the stadium at kickoff and then sneak back in for postgame celebrations with Devin.

“Now for him to be on this stage finally, enjoying every moment, smiling at everything we do, it’s been great,” Devin McCourty said.

Now they’ll take the field together on sports’ grandest stage.

“It’s what this whole season has been,” Jason said. “So many years of texting back and forth throughout the week, ‘Hey, we play the Colts this week, send me your notes” or this that and the third. From OTA’s all the way through this season, to be able to take part in this together, all of those moments have been so special. And I think taking the field together in the Super Bowl will be one more moment to add to the long list.”

It’s been the best season of Jason’s 10 year NFL career. One he hopes to cap by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday.

“Winning the game. That’s the biggest dream.”
