MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Saturday’s scheduled game between Middle Tennessee and Charlotte has been postponed due to a series of positive COVID-19 tests amongst the Charlotte football team, sources tell NewsChannel 5.
The 49ers received news of multiple positive tests early in the week and had more positive tests in Thursday’s final round of testing ahead of the game. In consultation with school administration and health officials, the decision was made that Charlotte would not make the trip for the game.
The two schools are working with Conference USA about the possibility of rescheduling. One potential date for the game would be Saturday, December 12th. The conference has left that date open for teams to reschedule games lost this season ahead of the league’s championship game the following week.
