WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A Purdue football player is gaining some fans of his own after his surprise birthday gift for a little girl went viral.

Megan Shufflebarger posted a story and photo to Facebook of when she was with her daughter, Kinley, who was oohing and aahing in the toy section, making her birthday list. A young man, Purdue freshman running back Tario Fuller II, came up and asked her which one she liked.

She pointed to one and Fuller picked it up and told them to try to stay nearby. Megan thought it was strange, but was too distracted to think more about it.

He came back with the doll in a bag with the receipt and told her "Happy birthday. Enjoy your dolly."

In the post, Megan said:

"What a reminder to never lose faith in humanity and to be generous and pay it forward. To this generous young man, whoever you are, I hope you see this and more importantly, I hope you know what a good young man you are."

The Purdue football team's Twitter account acknowledged the good deed, saying "So proud to have such a caring and thoughtful young man on our team! Way to go @Rb_Fuller_25"

My heart is about to explode. We were in target tonight and this younger couple was walking thru the toy aisles...
