The identity has been released of a woman who was killed after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 40 in Dickson County.
The woman was identified as 54-year-old Melinda Newell from Joelton, Tennessee.
The wreck happened in the westbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 176 around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash involved two vehicles. They said Newell was going east in the westbound lanes near the exit for State Route 840 when her vehicle went head-on into a tractor trailer.
It was unclear if the semi driver sustained any injuries.
Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane. Eastbound drivers were not affected.
The roadway was cleared around midnight.D
Standard drug and alcohol tests were requested for both Newell and the driver of the semi.
