The motorcyclist killed over the weekend in a crash on Interstate 40 has been identified.
The crash happened around 8:23 p.m. Sunday in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 207 by Jefferson Street.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 34-year-old Brandon Lee Darnold was negotiating a curve, when he changed from the far right lane to the immediate left lane and struck a westbound Ford Escape.
Darnold lost control of the motorcycle and struck a retaining wall.
He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
The driver of the SUV was not hurt. Police said there was no evidence at the scene of alcohol or drug involvement on the part of that driver.
Those with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said the roadway was closed to both eastbound and westbound drivers.
Additional toxicology tests would be conducted to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.
