Two people were killed in a late-night crash on Interstate 24 in south Nashville.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the crash happened in the westbound lanes near mile marker 55 by Harding Place around 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
According to witnesses, the driver of a Ford Expedition entered the on-ramp at a high rate of speed and lost control - causing the SUV to flip several times.
Jonathan Iruegar, age 26, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Angel Melendez Garcia, age 24, was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
Witness Taylor Greer said she saw two people run away from the scene of the crash and into the woods.
"I stayed behind and noticed two men run out from the car and they ran into the woods, one in a white shirt and one in a black shirt,” she said.
The crash remained under investigation.
