The planned closure for the weekend of Interstate 24 has reopened early.
Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said the closure was planned to reopen around noon Sunday, but crews completed the work Saturday and were able to reopen the roadway.
The closure had been on Interstate 24 East from Briley Parkway to the Interstate 65 junction north of Nashville.
TDOT officials added some new lanes had also been opened on the widening project, including on Interstate 65 southbound by the Interstate 24 junction and continuing to Trinity Lane.
Also, the ramp to Interstate 65 South from Interstate 24 East has been upgraded to two lanes.
The contractor said news lanes would be opened over the next several weekend, weather permitting.
