Sumner County Schools purchase safer school buses in 2019

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — Sumner County Schools is stepping up efforts to keep your kids safe who take the bus to and from school each day.

The district's 11 new school buses are equipped with sensors to anticipate rollover crashes and help with control in bad weather.

The district's Transportation Department maintains and operates over 220 buses daily which travel more than 13,000 miles each day and 2.4 million miles per year.

No word yet on when those buses will hit the streets.
