Part of Interstate 40 was reopened after it was shut down for about 5 hours due to a crash involving a dump truck.

The wreck happened in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 205, not far from Briley Parkway, just before 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Authorities with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said the dump truck had been working up on a hill when it rolled down the hill, hitting a semi and a crashing into a TDOT construction project.

There were reports the driver of the dump truck had minor injuries.

Cleanup took several hours, and the road was reopened around 5 p.m. All eastbound lanes were closed while crews cleared the crash. Westbound traffic was not affected.
