LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A fun night on the water turned into one of the worst tragedies on the Ohio River in recent history.

According to investigators, a boat capsized after it ran into an anchored barge. Nine people were on board the rented pontoon boat.

Two bodies were recovered over the weekend, but three others are feared dead.

Rescue crews said high water levels and debris from recent rains are making a search and rescue difficult.

"We're seeing some pretty treacherous current,” said Chief Greg Frederick with the Louisville Fire Department. “Even the rescue boats we have on the river are having some challengers maneuvering around out there. Like I said, it's very challenging."

In addition to boats, teams and dogs covered the shorelines down the river. Air Patrol was also being used but the conditions are too dangerous for divers.
