MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Officers said a man has died after being shot in Rutherford County.
Authorities responded to a home on Wenlon Drive around 2:37 p.m. Sunday in reference to a shooting.
Detectives identified the victim as Willie David Jr. and said he had apparently been in an altercation with someone when a third person, Dejuanuta Stegall of Nashville, allegedly shot him.
David Jr. was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
According to officials, Stegall fled the scene before being taken into custody and charged with second degree homicide.
Stegall was booked in the Rutherford County Jail.
