CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A woman has been charged with arson after her husband passed away from critical injuries sustained in a suspicious fire.

Authorities said the fire happened June 25 at 100 Duncan Street, Apartment A.

The victim, 36-year-old Alfred Ghannam, passed away late Wednesday. He had suffered burns over 95 percent of his body.

Officials said the victim’s wife, Amber Ghannam, had been in a rental car across the street, and according to earlier reports, she had not been inside the home when it was burning.

According to police, more charges were expected against Amber.

Investigators said the flames were contained mostly to the bedroom. They added two gasoline cans were found, one on a couch in the living room and another in the bedroom.

Officials said the investigation was ongoing.
