Crashes Back Up Interstates 40, 24 During Holiday Traffic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Multiple crashes in the area have backed up the interstates as people make their way in for holiday celebrations.

Those with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said a tractor trailer jack-knifed in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 at mile marker 211 around 6:27 p.m. Saturday.

Westbound traffic in that area was affected with the left lane blocked. Eastbound was not experiencing delays.

Crews said that crash was cleared by 7:21 p.m.

Another crash involving multiple vehicles happened around 6:49 p.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 near Exit 52 – Murfreesboro Road.

That crash shutdown the roadway to westbound traffic for awhile, but one lane was opened up after about 30 minutes. Eastbound traffic was not affected.

Crews said that crash was cleared shortly after 8 p.m.
