NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 17-year-old was fatally shot inside a crowded night club, according to police.

Authorities identified the victim as Brandon Williams.

The shooting happened inside the Kilimanjaro night club in the 1400 block of Artic Avenue.

Officers said they responded to the scene around 1 a.m. Sunday and found Williams unresponsive on the dance floor.

Williams was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Williams' family members said they have been between tears and anger.

"He had goals and he had plans, you know, and it was all taken away with a bullet," said Vatara Battle, Williams' cousin.

His family said the bullet took away more than a life.

"Hope, that's the biggest thing out here hope, which is really missing our here in this neighborhood, hope," said Iris Turner, Williams' cousin.

Family said Williams had goals of joining the military and raising a family. According to those close to him, he and his girlfriend had been expecting a child.

Williams had also just graduated from Hillwood High School just a week before his death.

Officials said a large crowd had been inside the club during the shooting, but most had left by the time officers arrived.

Authorities described the suspect as a black male in his mid to late 20’s with shoulder-length dreadlocks.

He was wearing a red and white striped shirt and blue jeans and stood approximately 5’6’’ to 5’11’’ tall, weighing around 160 pounds.

Police have asked anyone present during the shooting or those with additional information on Wiliams’ murder to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME (615-742-7463).
