LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. – An escaped inmate called authorities on a stolen cell phone to turn himself in.
Officials said Jason Williams Kirk made the call Wednesday, and with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies, Kirk was located in Denmark, Tennessee.
Madison County Sheriff’s deputies, along with those with the U.S. Marshal Task Force, took Kirk into custody Thursday.
Kirk was facing charges for felony evading in Madison County. He was also facing charges in Lawrence County of felony escape and theft over $10,000.
Kirk was taken back into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.
He was being held in the Madison County Detention Facility.
