NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 24 about a mile past the Harding Place interchange has caused traffic problems for commuters.
The crash happened around 6:20 a.m. on westbound lanes at mile marker 55.
Details about what led to the crash were not available.
The two left lanes were blocked while emergency crews worked at the scene. Video from the Tennessee Department of Transportation Smartway cameras showed three to four vehicles at the scene, in addition to emergency crews.
Westbound traffic was not expected to be cleared until 8 a.m.
Traffic was moving extremely slow through the area as vehicles merged into the two right lanes, making an already congested commute even more difficult.
Traffic was backed up at least 9 to 10 miles.
Side streets in the area were also very slow as drivers tried to get around the interstate congestion.
Running parallel to the interstate, both Murfreesboro Pike and Nolensville Pike were experiencing big delays. Bell Road and Old Hickory Boulevard were also having problems.
Eastbound traffic was not affected.
