NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A few afternoon showers weren't able to dampen the spirits of thousands of people gathering downtown for Nashville's biggest fireworks show ever!

More than 150,000 people converged downtown for the fireworks show and to hear the headlining music performance from Martina McBride.

It was a festive atmosphere as Martina took the stage after a short weather delay.

This year's fireworks show was expected to be bigger and better than ever, and folks came down early to Broadway to get their prime seats.

Those with the Nashville Visitor's Bureau said Nashville was hosting the biggest fireworks show in the country.

They wouldn't say exactly how many fireworks were set off, but the show lasted for about 31 minutes, which was six minutes longer than last year.

The show kicked off shortly after 9:40 p.m. illuminating Music City.

The rain alone didn’t bother attendees.

“No, it's not going to dampen anything,” said Will Freeman, who’s attending “Let Freedom Sing.” “It might slow it down for a while, but I think if it's a downpour when Martina McBride's on, I think it's going to still go big.”

The fireworks were set to music by the Nashville Symphony.
