NASHVILLE, Tenn. – First Tennessee Park in downtown Nashville hosted its first peanut-free baseball game Monday night.
The new home of the Nashville Sounds isn't even three weeks old, but it needed a lot of cleaning gearing up for the event.
It's all to make sure children with peanut allergies can enjoy a night of baseball.
For some kids, this is the only way they can take in a game because even a small amount of exposure can cause a life-threatening reaction.
“I have lots of patients with peanut allergies and some of them have such severe allergies that just coming to a game or event like this is just not possible because of the risk of an accidental exposure,” said Dr. Megan P. Stauffer with the Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center.
This was the third time the Sounds have hosted a peanut-free night and the first at their new home.
