MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – An alleged shoplifting ended in a police pursuit for several miles.

Authorities said they responded to the scene of the shoplifting around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Walmart on Old Fort Parkway.

That’s when the suspects attempted to use their vehicle to run over the responding officers who were on foot in the parking lot.

The suspects refused to stop, according to police, and the pursuit lasted several miles until the suspects entered Interstate 24 at the South Church Street ramp.

Officials said the suspects’ vehicle left the interstate and drove into the grassy area between the interstate and the on-ramp.

According to police, the suspects were involved in a minor crash with a pursuing officer.

Due to steep terrain, authorities said the suspects could not drive any further, and all three in the suspects’ vehicle were arrested.

No injuries were reported. Officers said charges were pending against all three.

The crash was being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Those with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in apprehending the suspects.
