NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A woman was rushed to the hospital after she was allegedly shot by her boyfriend with a three-year-old child present.

Officials with Metro Police said Richard Clark has been booked on several charges after he shot his girlfriend during a heated argument because she reportedly kept putting her feet on the dashboard of his car.

The incident was reported around 10 p.m. Monday, near Glenview Drive in east Nashville.

An argument apparently broke out between the two, at which point Clark allegedly pulled a handgun and shot the victim in the abdomen.

She left the apartment and was able to make it to a neighbor’s residence, where police were called.

Clark reportedly fled the scene. After police arrived, he returned and was taken into custody.

The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was treated for non-critical injuries.

The child was placed into the custody of his grandmother.

Police said Clark is a convicted felon who has four prior guilty drug possessions in the past three years.
