NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Detectives opened an investigation after a woman was fatally shot east of downtown.
The shooting happened in the 500 block of Summer Place in the James Cayce public housing development around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The victim was identified as Pamela Sowell. Authorities said Sowell was allegedly in a heated argument with several people in that area just before the shooting took place.
Sowell was found by officers on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. She later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
