Metro Nashville Police Department said a drug deal gone bad led to a shooting in which one person was killed.
The shooting happened at the Glastonbury Woods Apartments on Glastonbury Road near the Nashville International Airport around 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities said late Thursday afternoon 18-year-old Ahmad Osborne passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. It was believed he was shot in the face. Officials had not released his identity.
Initial reports stated Osborne was driving a red 2007 Ford Mustang with another 18-year-old inside the car at the time of the shooting. The two went to Massman Drive following the shooting.
Authorities said it was unknown why the two were at the apartment complex. A pistol was found on the floorboard of the Mustang. Authorities said it was unknown if the pistol had been fired.
The 18-year-old passenger was being interviewed by police. No suspect information had been released.
A gun was recovered from the floorboard of the Mustang. The investigation remained ongoing.
